environmental protections & Clean energy
Our environment is a huge part of what makes Holly Springs special, enhancing the beauty, livability, and health of our town. Protecting and preserving our environment is vital if we want to provide a healthy, safe, and prosperous future for our families and the next generation of Holly Springs residents.
That’s why I have fought hard to protect our environment and find clean energy solutions for Holly Springs. I led the effort to get Holly Springs certified as a Sol Smart community, a designation that means our town ordinances are solar power friendly. We have already achieved Bronze designation and are now pushing for Silver. I also pushed for the creation of a Sustainability Coordinator on town staff, to oversee the creation and implementation of the town’s sustainability initiatives and policies. In addition, the town’s all new Unified Development Ordinance, created by our council, kept environmental sustainability in mind by preserving trees and open space and incentivizing low-impact storm water strategies. Lastly, I have worked closely with our Tree Advisory Committee to preserve our town’s tree canopy and make tree-friendly town policy.
There may be no more important issue for the future of our town and it’s people than the protection of our environment and it will continue to be a focus of mine on the council.
