partnering for a better future

If there is one thing that I’ve learned during my time serving on the town council, it’s that in order to solve the big problems we face, we can’t expect to do it alone. That’s why I’ve made it a priority to strengthen our working relationships with both our partners and our residents.

In 2019, I created the town council’s Landfill Committee to coordinate between residents, the council, and our counterparts at the county to help solve the Southern Wake Landfill odor problem. That committee has made impressive progress and has now transitioned into a county working group, on which I am appointed.

Then, in 2020, I created and continue to serve on the town’s Legislative Action Committee which created the town’s first legislative agenda and coordinates with our partners at the county, state and federal levels.

And while partnering with the staff and officials at every level of government is important, it is no more important than partnering with our own residents. That’s why I’ve never passed on an opportunity to hear from the people and organizations that make our town special. As a member of the town’s grants committee, I’ve increased annual non-profit funding and worked to fund organizations providing food and services to residents in need.

We know that in Holly Springs, we are strongest when we work together. That’s more than just a motto, it’s a plan of action, and will remain a guiding principle.
