growing smarter, going farther

There may be no more important function of the town council than to make sure that our town grows in a way that maximizes our potential while preserving the quality of life that makes us such a wonderful place to live. With the rapid growth in Holly Springs and the surrounding region, it’s never been more imperative that we get this right.

The first part of growing successfully is carefully managing what homes get built and where. We need new homes for all the families who want to move to town, but we also need to make sure housing is diversified in type, location, and price. As a council we’ve gone through new housing projects with a fine tooth comb to make sure that developers meet our vision and are acting as a partner with the town. We also passed a new Unified Development Ordinance to modernize our building requirements and allow developers to build new, different types of housing that will house more people with less impact on our community infrastructure.

The other part of managing growth is to make sure we are growing economically as well. Over the past two years, we have landed massive economic development wins, which will bring high paying job, great community partners, and commercial tax revenue to town. These huge projects have completely rebalanced our tax base, meaning that we will no longer need to rely so heavily on resident tax dollars to build out the infrastructure our town needs to grow.

Growing sustainably and smartly is priority number one and will continue to be moving forward.
